Agata Szydłowska Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw
Agata Szydłowska – researcher, author of books, curator. A graduate of art history at the University of Warsaw, the Graduate School of Social Research at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, she has a PhD in ethnology. Recipient of stipends: Minister of Culture and National Heritage stipend (2020) and an art stipend from the City of Warsaw (2024). She works at the Department of Design Theory at the Faculty of Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where she teaches, among other things, the history of design. She is interested in interdisciplinary research on design, in particular the intertwining of design with politics and social life. She has authored and co-authored books on typography, Polish graphic design and magazines from the People’s Republic of Poland, including Futerał. O urządzaniu mieszkań w PRL-u, Paryż domowym sposobem and Od solidarycy do TypoPolo, as well as academic and general interest articles. Co-curator of the exhibition Ty i Ja. A lifestyle magazine in communist Poland in History Meeting House in Warsaw. She is also co-creator of the long-term Zoepolis project on interspecies communities, including exhibitions, art research and a book.
